The Practice: Writing

On Becoming Who I Have Always Been.

This practice emerged from The Pause.

An ongoing practice I return to when life feels loud.

Unbeknownst to me, writing has become grounding.

Essential.

Writing has become a way of exploring.

Gently stepping into a new and unfamiliar identity.

Or perhaps not new at all.

Perhaps a truer self.

One that has always been there, quietly waiting.

Neglected.

Forgotten.

Patient.

Writing allows me to hear my own voice, unfiltered, unprompted.

It is a means of expression, a place where I can truly be myself.

Soul-igniting.

Cup-filling.

I do not know yet where this journey will lead, and nor do I need to.

It feels a little scary.

It feels unfamiliar.

But the more I write, the more the shoe fits.

The more comfortable I feel in my own skin.

Writing is freeing.

It is fabulous in its own quiet way.

The words bubble to the surface, soothing the soul as they rise.

A therapeutic exploration of the inner self.

A celebration of the self I once set aside.

Writing is my anchor.
